Programs by LMC Children Services

Currently serving as a sponsor for the Child and Adult Care Food Program and Summer Food Service Program in North Carolina, our feeding programs provide over 1,000 meals and snacks per day to children in underprivileged communities.

Bridging Nutritional Gaps

Established by the United States Department of Agriculture, the CACFP and SFSP programs are administered at the Federal level by the Food and Nutrition Services branch. Billions of grant dollars are annually allocated across the 50 states for the administration of these food programs.

State agencies approve sponsoring organizations and independent centers to operate the program on the local level. The State also monitors the programs and provides guidance and assistance to ensure requirements are met.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Overview

CACFP reimburses participating centers and day care homes for serving nutritious meals to the children and adults in their care.

How It Works

Through the Child and Adult Care Food Program, we are able to provide healthy meals and snacks to children attending eligible childcare facilities. The program entails identifying facilities located in underserved tier-I communities, where the reality of food neglect and/or unhealthy eating is at its highest.

We are able to provide a healthy meal plan, as well as nutrition training within these facilities. The meal plan provided at the facilities we serve state-approved balanced meals, which consist of whole grains, low-fat meats, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Ensuring that our sponsored facilities follow the program regulations is our greatest responsibility. Our administrative responsibilities include conducting in-depth training, balanced meal planning, procuring foods and supplies, maintaining an approved budget for each facility, and conducting periodic site visits to reinforce program compliance.

We take pride in our friendly staff and supportive program partners. As a collective, we are able to feed nearly 1,500 children per day with healthy meals through this program.

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

Overview

SFSP was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

How It Works

Our summer food service program allows children to continue to receive nutritious meals and snacks when school is not in session. Meals are provided to children aged 1 up to 18 years old, at feeding site areas with a significant concentration of low-income children. We know that when school lets out, these children are still in need of healthy meals.

Our nutritious meals are offered in locations such as parks, schools, playgrounds, housing authorities, day camps, churches, and community centers. We contract a licensed caterer to provide our healthy meal plan to children served at our sponsored locations. View our meal plan and menu.

Summer months begin in June and go through the end of August.

We Need Your Help!

It is hard to believe that with the resources available to us today, that hunger is still a reality for many of our impoverished communities.

While ending childhood hunger is our ultimate goal, and we are making daily strides, we need your help to make more of an impact.

USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and provider.
